Biography

JUNIOR (2016): Played in two games... recorded three tackles at Eastern Illinois... missed the next four games due to an injury... made three tackles at Missouri State, including one for a loss... suffered a season-ending injury that game.

SOPHOMORE (2015): Named to the College Football Performance Awards watch list at defensive back... despite missing three games due to an injury still ranked sixth on the team in tackles (54)... two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and 3.0 tackles for a loss... tied for the team lead with a career-high seven tackles, including a 4-yard tackle for a loss, versus Eastern Illinois... career-high eight tackles at Illinois, including a forced fumble and fumble recovery... improved on his career-high making 10 tackles at Coastal Carolina, eight of which were solos... added a 3-yard TFL... six solo tackles and forced a fumble that was returned for a touchdown against Southern Illinois... also had a pass break-up... two solo tackles versus South Dakota... set a UNI-Dome record with a 95-yard interception return for a touchdown to start the scoring... play tied for the second-longest in WIU history... added two solo stops in the victory... recorded his second interception in as many weeks at Illinois State... ended with three solo tackles, including one for a loss... six solo tackles against Youngstown State... recorded eight tackles at North Dakota State... two tackles at Indiana State... missed the final three games of the season with an injury.

FRESHMAN (2014): Played in nine games and made a start... 16 of his 25 tackles were solo stops... 11-yard sack, six pass break-ups and a forced fumble on the season... one of two true-freshmen on defense to see game action in the opener versus Valparaiso... recorded four tackles in the game, including two on special teams... two tackles and a pass break-up versus Drake... two pass break-ups at Northwestern... career-high six tackles against North Dakota State... three solo tackles, a sack, and two pass break-ups at Youngstown State... three tackles against Illinois State... three solo tackles and forced a fumble at South Dakota... made his first collegiate start at South Dakota State... four tackles against Indiana State and broke up a pass... named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference Academic Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football, track/field and baseball… earned Division I All-State honors… voted the conference’s Defensive MVP… First Team All-Conference at safety… selected to Arizona’s ‘Top 25’ All-Star team… USA Today All-State… helped set the school record in the 4x100 relay… recorded eight interceptions, setting a season record… ended his career with 214 tackles and 13 interceptions… played for coach Jason Randels. 

PERSONAL: Born February 18, 1996 in Gainesville, Florida… No. 1 sports highlight was finishing his senior year with eight interceptions to break the school record and leading the state in interceptions… his dad has been a major influence, “He taught me never to give up and always go after what I want.”… most admires his HS coach Jason Randels, “He really pushed me my senior year and pushed my name out there during the recruitment process.”… his father Tony played Major League Baseball for the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals organizations… his aunt played in the WNBA for the Phoenix Mercury… enjoys football, track and baseball… favorite professional team is the Dallas Cowboys… son of Tony and Kim Diggs.
