MACOMB, Ill. - Leatherneck football hits the road on Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to North Alabama for a 3 p.m. matchup at Bobby Wallace Field at Bank Independent Stadium.

Western Illinois enters the matchup at 2-2 following a dominant 59-2 victory over Morehead State on Sept. 19 at Hanson Field. The Leathernecks scored 31 points in the first half before adding 28 more after halftime. Kennedy McGill accounted for five touchdowns in the victory, throwing for 264 yards and four touchdowns while adding 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

McGill was named the OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week following his performance against Morehead State.

North Alabama enters Saturday's matchup at 2-2 after defeating Alcorn State 38-20 in the first-ever football game at Bank Independent Stadium. Quarterback Destin Wade completed 15-of-30 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns while adding 37 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Scouting North Alabama

The Lions enter Saturday averaging a strong offensive output, led by Wade and a group of talented skill players. Against Alcorn State, North Alabama totaled 296 passing yards while scoring 38 points in its historic home opener.

Snap Reed became the first player to score a touchdown at Bank Independent Stadium, hauling in a 31-yard touchdown pass from Wade in the first quarter. TJ Holmes also added a touchdown reception, while Wade scored on a 13-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Defensively, North Alabama forced an early interception against Alcorn State and finished the game with four sacks. Avery Howard led the Lions with seven tackles, while Cayden Adkins and Fred Vili each recorded six tackles.

Series History

Saturday's matchup will be the second meeting all-time between Western Illinois and North Alabama. The teams first met on Aug. 29, 2019, with North Alabama earning a 26-17 victory over the Leathernecks in Florence.

North Alabama took a 19-14 lead into halftime before adding a third-quarter touchdown to secure the victory. The Lions outgained Western Illinois 412-302 in the contest.

Western Illinois will look to even the all-time series when the two teams meet again Saturday.
