MACOMB, Ill. - Leatherneck football returns to Hanson Field on Saturday, Sept. 19, hosting Morehead State in its fourth game of the 2026 season.

Western Illinois enters the matchup at 1-2 after opening the season with a 65-14 win over Northwestern College before dropping games to Illinois State and Wisconsin. The Leathernecks most recently faced Wisconsin in Madison, falling 36-9. Kennedy McGill 

Morehead State enters Saturday's matchup at 1-2. The Eagles opened the season with a 42-40 loss to Ohio Dominican in a three-overtime thriller before bouncing back with a 75-24 win over Kentucky Christian. Morehead State then traveled to No. 15 Austin Peay, falling 63-7. Quarterback David Parsons has thrown for 888 yards and 10 touchdowns through three games.

Scouting Morehead State

The Eagles bring a high-powered passing attack into Saturday's matchup, averaging 466.3 yards of total offense per game and 335.3 yards through the air. Morehead State has scored 40.7 points per game through its first three contests.

Morehead State is coming off a 63-7 loss at No. 15 Austin Peay. The Eagles' defense recorded five tackles for loss and two sacks in the game, while punter Ashton Adams averaged 50.1 yards on nine punts, including a 67-yard punt and six punts downed inside the 20-yard line. Adams was later named the Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance.

Kickoff between the Leathernecks and Eagles is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Hanson Field. The game will be available on ESPN+.

Saturday's game will feature a Purple Out, Family BBQ and a 50th reunion celebration for the 1976 Western Illinois football team. Fans will also receive a purple rally flag giveaway while supplies last.
