MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois Football will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, for their third game of the season against the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Leathernecks are coming off of a 41-10 loss to FCS #4 Illinois State, which was a game in which Western Illinois was down 17-0 in the first quarter. The leaders for Western Illinois in the game were Cason Carswell with 140 passing yards, although Kennedy McGill also had 123 yards through the air for the Leathernecks, including their lone interception. The lone touchdown for Western was run in by Cason Carswell, but he was not the overall leader in rushing, that mark going to Josh Robinson. On the receiving end of things, Christian Anaya led the way for Western Illinois with 78 yards, and Jacob Kania was second on the team with 54. Nick Reinicke had 2 TFL's and 9 total tackles, both being top marks on the day for the Leathernecks. Luke Droegemueller had 5 punts for 220 yards for Western Illinois, which was able to create advantageous field positioning during the game.

Wisconsin Leads the series between the two squads 2-0, although this will mark the first matchup between the Leathernecks and Badgers in 20 years.

Scouting Wisconsin

The Badgers competed with FBS #3 Notre Dame in the first half on September 6th at Lambeau Field, only going into the break down 13-10. The second half was a different story, however, with the Fighting Irish outscoring Wisconsin 28-3, meaning the game ended with a final score of 41-13. Transfer WR Malachi Coleman was the biggest standout for the Badgers, going for 76 yards against one of the best ranked defenses in the country. A big issue for Wisconsin was their 5-13 third down conversion rate, which will be something they try to fix against the Leathernecks.

The Game will kickoff at 6:15 PM on September 12th on Big Ten Network.
