MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois fifth-year quarterback Kennedy McGill has been named the Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Leathernecks to a 55-24 win over UT Martin.

McGill helped set the tone early with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter before throwing a 24-yard touchdown pass midway through the second. He added a 25-yard rushing touchdown just before halftime to give Western Illinois a 21-10 lead, then wasted little time finding the end zone again, breaking loose for a 56-yard touchdown run to open the second half.
The performance marked another big game in a strong stretch for McGill, who has rushed for 581 yards over the last three games. He now has 890 rushing yards on the season, ranking sixth nationally among all players and leading all quarterbacks. McGill also ranks seventh in the FCS in total offense at 315.0 yards per game and ninth in total points scored with 68.
With the win, Western Illinois improved to 2-1 in OVC play, and McGill added a national honor to a season that continues to make an impact for the Leathernecks.
