Western Illinois Hosts Eastern Illinois in OVC–Big South Opener
Western Illinois (1-3) returns to Hanson Field on Saturday, Sept. 27 to host Eastern Illinois (1-2) in an OVC–Big South matchup. The Leathernecks look to start 1-0 in conference play. 

Last Week – Eastern Washington Recap
The Leathernecks fell 52-31 at Eastern Washington on Sept. 20. Quarterback Chris Irvin led the offense through the air, while running back Markell Holman put together another strong day on the ground. Wide receiver Christian Anaya hauled in a pair of touchdowns, and kicker Antonio Chadha connected on a 39-yard field goal while staying perfect on extra-point attempts.

Recent Form and Key Performers

• Markell Holman rushed for 118 yards against Eastern Washington.

• Christian Anaya secured 2 touchdowns bringing his total to 3 on the year. 

• Keith Moko and Justin Richardson hauled in interceptions

• Antonio Chadha continues to provide consistency in the kicking game with range and accuracy and taking home OVC Player of the Week Honors. 

Scouting Eastern Illinois
Eastern Illinois enters the weekend 1-2, with a season-opening win over Dayton followed by losses to Indiana State and Illinois State. Quarterback Cole LaCrue brings a dual-threat presence that can test opposing defenses. The Panthers have shown balance offensively and will look to create explosive plays in their OVC–Big South opener.

Keys to the Game

• Establish Holman early to control the line of scrimmage.

• Limit big plays from LaCrue and contain his ability to extend drives with his legs.

• Maintain efficiency on special teams, where Chadha's leg and field position could be deciding factors.

What's at Stake
Saturday marks the start of OVC–Big South play for both teams and renews an in-state rivalry. A win would give Western Illinois momentum entering the conference schedule, while Eastern Illinois looks to do the same while evening their record on the year.

Rocky's Kids Club is located at the tent and tables in the southwest corner of Hanson Field. The Rocky's Kids Club captain will be honored on the field during the third quarter of the game. Kids Club packets are available for pick up in Western Hall. Cost of admission into Rocky's Kids Club is $25.
