Four Leathernecks Earn Phil Steele Preseason All-Conference Honors

MACOMB, Ill.-  Western Illinois Football had four student-athletes recognized on the 2025 Phil Steele Preseason All-Big South/OVC Teams, announced earlier this week.

The Leathernecks were represented across offense, defense, and special teams, showcasing the team's balanced talent heading into the upcoming season.

Wide receiver Demari Davis, a senior, was named to the Third Team Offense after a strong 2024 campaign. He's joined by junior wideout Christian Anaya, who also earned Third Team Offense honors, giving WIU two of the top returning receivers in the league.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior linebacker Christian Pierce received Second Team Defense recognition. Pierce, known for his leadership and tenacity, is expected to anchor the Leatherneck defense in 2025.

Senior kicker Antonio Chadha earned First Team Special Teams honors, highlighting his consistent performance and clutch kicking ability.

The preseason selections reflect the respect WIU's returning talent is receiving across the conference and set the stage for a highly competitive fall under the lights at Hanson Field.

Western Illinois opens the 2025 season on August 29 against Illinois.
