MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois softball closed out its 2025 campaign on Sunday, celebrating Senior Day in a home matchup against Eastern Illinois. The Leathernecks honored their seniors in a heartfelt pregame ceremony, wrapping up a season marked by growth and determination.

WIU got on the board in the fourth inning when Cynthia Hull drove in a run with an RBI groundout, scoring pinch runner Raegan Boone after RyLee German's single to center. Offensively, Western Illinois tallied five hits on the afternoon, with Kaylee Ketcherside, Payton Brown, German, Beth Pavy, and Megan Leonard each contributing one.

In the circle, Kathryn McChristy made the start, while Kaitlyn Green and Kaelyn Walters provided relief. Walters closed out the game with a clean fifth inning, keeping the Panthers off the board.

WIU was sharp defensively, recording no errors and collecting 15 putouts. Hull led the effort with six at first base, while Pavy added three assists from second.

The Leathernecks battled throughout, showcasing solid defense and timely hitting, but Eastern Illinois used a strong offensive stretch in the middle innings to secure an 11-1 result.
