INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Western Illinois women's tennis team shines in Indianapolis with a clean sweep to start the spring season.

The Leathernecks cruise past the Jaguars with a 7-0 win to start off the season.

Chloé Routier Started things off for singles. Routier dropped the first set 2-6, she managed to follow up with victory in set two scoring 6-1 and winning the match 6-2 in the third set. Paige Grice dropped her first set 3-6, but bounced back in the final two, finishing 6-2 in the second and finishing strong with a 7-5 victory to claim the match. 

Lara Souza had a two set thriller ending the first with a score of 6-4 and ending the second with a tie breaker 7-6. Richardlyn Francois had a three set battle dropping the first 5-7, winning the second 6-4 and finishing with the exclamation 10-6.  

Mana Fawcett made quick work of her opponent, winning the first set 6-0 and finishing off the second with a 6-2 win. Nour Gueblaoui capped off an impressive singles run finishing her match in two sets with the first ending in 6-0 and the second ending in a 6-3 victory.  

In doubles play,  the team of Francois and Souza fought a hard battle and came out on top winning their match with a score of 6-4. The team of Grice and Fawcett made a statement winning their match and clinching doubles for the WIU tennis team. Routier and Gueblaoui did not get to finish their match as WIU had clinched in double play. 

Western Illinois is back in action tomorrow taking on The Illinois State Redbirds.
