Leathernecks Head North to Face Wisconsin

Western takes on Badgers in Madison

MACOMB – Western Illinois wraps its road trip on Monday, heading to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers. The Leathernecks are 2-1 all-time against the Badgers. Western Illinois won the last meeting between the two teams, winning 69-67 at Wisconsin in the 2015-16 season opener.
The Leathernecks close a three-game road trip, returning home to take on Hannibal-LaGrange inside Western Hall on Thursday.

LAST TIME OUT | Western Illinois fell at Illinois, 84-52. The Leathernecks trailed by five, 21-16 in the first half, but Illinois closed the half on a 19-6 run to pull away from the Leathernecks.
 
ABOUT THE LEATHERNECKS | Western Illinois comes in at 2-4 overall and has dropped two straight. Western Illinois scores 70.2 per game while allowing 77.3. James Dent Jr. leads WIU with 17.3 points per game while Ryan Myers scores 11.5. Drew Cisse has been a beast on the boards, going over double-digit boards in WIU's last three games. Cisse averages 10.5 rebounds per game while scoring 8.5.  
 
ABOUT THE BADGERS | Wisconsin comes in a 4-2 overall and winners of their last three games. The Badgers most recently won the Fort Myers Tip-Off, beating Virginia and SMU. The Badgers average 74.3 per game while allowing 66.3.

Wisconsin has five players averaging in double figure scoring with AJ Storr averaging 13.3. Tyler Wahl (10.8), Chucky Hepburn (10.7), Steven Crowl (10.5) and John Blackwell (10.2) all score in double digits.
 
ALGONQUIN FOR THE GOOD COACHING LAND | Wisconsin coach Greg Gard was an assistant at Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 1999-2001. WIU head man Chad Boudreau was an assisant at Milwaukee from 2005-2016. WIU assisant Chris Hill played at Wisconsin-Milwaukee for Boudreau and was also on staff at Milwaukee while Boudreau was at UW-Milwaukee.
 
BLOCK PARTY | Prior to the game at Illinois, Western Illinois was second in the nation in blocks per game, registering 7.6. Missouri leads the country with 7.8 per contest.
 
STARTING A TREND | - Braden Lamar received his first start as a Leatherneck on Friday at Illinois. It was the fifth different WIU starting lineup in six games. Only Jesiah West has started each game.
 
HISTORY | The Leathernecks are 2-1 all-time vs. the Badgers. The last time the two teams met, Western Illinois upset No. 17 Wisconsin in the 2015-16 season opener, 69-67.
 
WHAT'S NEXT | Western Illinois returns home for a three-game homestand. The Leathernecks host Hannibal-LaGrange of Thursday, South Dakota on Sunday and Coe next Wednesday before visiting Green Bay. After the Green Bay game, the Leathernecks are off a week for finals, next hosting Eureka on December 18.
