Western Illinois takes on North Dakota State

Leathernecks-Bison kick at 2:30 p.m.

MACOMB – The Western Illinois football team is on the road this weekend, making the trip north to take on North Dakota State in Fargo. The game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff in the FargoDome. Both teams are coming off losses.

LAST TIME OUT | The Leathernecks hosted Missouri State for Homecoming last Saturday, falling to the Bears, 48-7. Ryan Crandall led the defense with nine tackles while Cordell Wilson added five. Offensively, Matt Morrissey threw for 213 yards while receiver Jay Parker had seven catches. Jaylin Jackson added six receptions for 61 yards.

The Bison lost for the second time in three weeks, falling 49-24 on the road at North Dakota. NDSU trailed 21-7 after a quarter and could not rally. As a team, NDSU rushed 39 times for 148 yards. Quarterback Cam Miller led the way rushing for 48 yards. Miller also went 11-16 throwing the ball for 175 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Eli Green led the receivers with four catches for 96 yards. Defensively, Jake Kava and Dylan Hendricks each registered seven tackles for the Bison.

PLAYERS TO WATCH | Western Illinois: Morrissey leads the MVFC in completions (138), is second in yards (1471), tied for fourth in touchdown passes (nine) and third in yards per game (245.2).

Jackson is tied for second in receptions (34), eighth in yards (373) and tied for fifth in receiving touchdowns (three). Parker is fourth in receptions with 33.

Despite missing last week's game, Bradyn Smith leads the MVFC in total tackles (34) and is tied for total tackles (49).

Jared Campbell's 86-yard punt vs. Missouri State ranks second all-time for the program.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE | Miller leads NDSU on the ground with 307 yards on 57 attempts (4.2 ypc). Miller has also completed 95 passes on 123 attempts for 1116 yards. Miller has two interceptions and eight TDs. Zach Mathis is the top NDSU target, hauling in24 passes for 426 yards and two TDs.

HISTORY | The Bison lead the all-time series 10-2. North Dakota State has won eight straight vs. the Leathernecks and is 3-2 all-time vs. Western Illinois inside the FargoDome.


WHAT'S NEXT | Western Illinois returns home next Saturday, hosting Southern Illinois at 3 p.m. It is Hall of Fame Weekend for Leatherneck Athletics.
