Leathernecks play final nonconference game in Moline

MOLINE – The Western Illinois men's basketball season conclude the nonconference slate on Friday, taking on Eureka College. The Leathernecks and Red Devils meet at Vibrant Arena at the Mark of the Quad Cities in Moline. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

About the Leathernecks
Western Illinois is riding a four-game winning streak, scoring victories over Southern Indiana, Texas Rio Grande Valley, Iowa Wesleyan and Eastern Illinois in the last four contests. The Leathernecks are currently 6-4 overall. During the winning streak, the Leathernecks are outscoring opponents by an average of 84.75-74.5.
When it comes to scoring, Alec Rosner is leading the way, averaging 16.3 points per game. Trenton Massner is right behind him with a 15.9 average. Jesiah West adds 11.8 while Quinlan Bennett and Vuk Stevanic each chip in 10.0 per game, respectively. Bennett and West lead the way on the glass, averaging 6.0 rebounds per game. Massner hands out 5.8 assists per game while West is nearly averaging two blocks a contest (1.8).
 
About the Red Devils
Eureka is 1-8 overall and has lost seven-straight games. The last win for the Red Devils came on Nov. 11 vs. Aurora.  Eureka averages 71.2 points per game while allowing 80.7 per contest.
Cody Baer leads the way for Eureka, scoring 15.8 points per game. Logan Dorethy adds 13.4 per night, Austyn Ellison adds 13.0 and Charlie McKinty adds 11.0. Baer adds 9.7 rebounds per game  while Ellison hands out 4.0 assists per outing.
 
Peak performer
Last Monday, Massner earned the Summit League's Peak Performer Player of the Week honors. Last week, Massner averaged 24 points per game in WIU's wins over Southern Indiana and UTRGV. It was the third time Massner earned the honor as a Leatherneck.
 
Not in his house
Jesiah West leads the team with 18 blocks, ranking in a tie for 47th in the NCAA. Hist 1.8 blocks per game have him tied for 49th in the country.
 
What's next
Western Illinois has a quick turnaround, opening Summit League play at home on Monday. The Leathernecks host North Dakota State (3-9) at 6 p.m., then take on North Dakota (6-7) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
