Leathernecks Wrap Regular Season at ORU

Colton Sandage led Western in scoring in back-to-back games.

TULSA, Okla. - The Western Illinois men's basketball team concluded its 2020-21 regular-season schedule on the road in a 95-59 loss to Oral Roberts Sunday (Feb. 28). 

Recording 18 points in 25 minutes, Colton Sandage led the Leathernecks' offense for the second time in as many games. Adam Anhold joined him in double figures with 10 points, while Ramean Hinton grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. 

"We just came out flat, but we can't beat the guys up for this," said head coach Rob Jeter. "We've asked a lot of them, and they've responded. They have worked so hard, with the five-game winning streak and the sacrifices made this season. Tonight, we were just exhausted, not just physically but mentally as well. We missed shots we normally make and defensive assignments we normally cover.

"The good news is it's like a whole new season begins, and we'll take a minute to recharge."  

The Leathernecks will have a week to prepare for the Summit League Tournament (March 6-9) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. Clinching the seventh seed, Western is scheduled to face No. 2 South Dakota Saturday at 8:45 p.m. CT.
