Matchup history: The Leathernecks and Tigers have played ten times in program history, with Western holding an 8-2 record. Their last matchup was played on Dec. 11, 1986, when the Leathernecks won 96-55 in Macomb. Though they haven't played many games against each other, the all-time series dates back to 1926 when the 'Necks won their first game, 50-14.

Players to watch: A graduate transfer from Monmouth College, Will Carius earned Second Team All-Summit League honors during his first year at Western Illinois last season. The Bettendorf, Iowa, native averaged 14.7 points per game while shooting 42.1% from the field, 39.8% from deep and 76.1% from the free throw line. Ahead of the 2021-22 season, Carius was named to Preseason Second Team All-Summit League.
 
Now in his second year with Western Illinois, Cameron Burrell has had a strong start to the 2021-22 campaign. The Chicago, Ill., native is averaging 18 minutes per game and leading the team in several statistical categories. He's the team leader in blocks (1.0 per game), rebounds (9.0 per game) and is tied with Jadrian Flores and Tamell Pearson for the team lead in steals (1.0 per game).

Scouting the opponent: The Tigers are currently 2-5 and coming off their second victory of the season, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday (Sept. 13). Joey Brown is the team leader in scoring at 13.6 points per game and assists with 3.7, and Francis Okwuosah leads them in rebounding at 6.1 per game.

What's next: After Tuesday's game against Iowa Wesleyan, the Leathernecks will head on the road for a three-game road trip. They face DePaul on Nov. 20, Northern Kentucky on Nov. 22, and Eastern Michigan on Nov. 24. Tipoff against DePaul in Chicago is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 20).
