Acklin Signs With CFL

The former Leatherneck wideout will continue his pro career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

MACOMB, Ill. – Former Western Illinois wideout Jaelon Acklin will continue his professional career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, the organization announced Thursday (March 20).

Acklin previously signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens last spring, and was the first of three Leathernecks to receive an NFL offer as Brett Taylor and Tyrin Holloway signed with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears at the conclusion of their respective rookie mini-camps.

Acklin's senior season included All-American buzz by three different organizations as STATS FCS, Phil Steele and the Associated Press all highlighted him on their postseason lists. The 2017 season also saw him set Western's single-season records with 84 receptions and 1,369 yards, while his five 100-yard receiving games matched a program high.

The Mountain View, Mo., native crowned his Leatherneck career 10th all-time in school history in receiving touchdowns (12) and eighth in receiving yards (1,733).
