Softball Drops Final Non-League Contest at Bradley

The Leathernecks begin Summit League play on March 30 against USD.

PEORIA, Ill.- The Leathernecks fell in their second meeting of the season to Bradley on March 21, 12-0, in five innings at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.
 
The Braves took an early 9-0 lead after two first inning home runs, an RBI single up the middle and three RBI doubles.
 
Western was able to get two players aboard in the third inning when Rachel Beatty and Ashley Minyard both drew walks, but each was stranded on base. Bradley added three runs in the third inning to extend its lead to 12-0.
 
The sole Leatherneck hit of the evening was a single to right field in the second inning off of the bat of Halle Hollatz. Dom Mannerino logged her first start of her Leatherneck career, while Madison Boone made just her third. Megan Lotarski, Abby Carlin and Payton Abbott each saw action in the circle for the Leathernecks.
 
WIU is off for eight days before beginning Summit League play at South Dakota on March 30.
