Western Illinois Football Brings In 13 Signees

Head coach Charlie Fisher announces 2017 Early Signing Day class

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois head football coach Charlie Fisher announced the signing of 13 new recruits Wednesday (Dec. 20) on Early Signing Day.

"Signing day is always exciting, and I am proud to announce this early group. With the early signing period, we feel like Christmas has come early with just a fantastic group of new Leathernecks," Fisher said. "We have already addressed many position needs. This is a great start on our class but let's be clear, our work is far from done as we continue to add to this class of Leathernecks. Our staff has worked hard and we look forward to finishing up the class as we move towards National Signing Day on February 7."

The Leathernecks bring in seven new players on offense, including three offensive linemen, two wide receivers, one tight end and one quarterback. Four linebackers, one defensive end and one cornerback highlight the newcomers on defense.

Three players hail from junior colleges, and the early class is made up of eight states: Illinois (four), Missouri (three), California (one), Indiana (one), Kansas (one), Minnesota (one), Mississippi (one) and Wisconsin (one).

The 13 players who make up the early signing period are below. Statistics and other biographical information will be provided on National Signing Day on Feb. 7.
