DES MOINES, Iowa - Junior Drew Forsberg (Moline, Ill.) picked up the only point for the Western Illinois men?s tennis team, as the Leathernecks fell to Drake, 6-1 Saturday.Forsberg?s win came at the No. 6 singles position, as he defeated Dave Iancu, 6-3, 6-4. Western?s top five singles positions all went down in straight sets. At No. 1, junior Justin Junck (Sioux City, Iowa) fell to Sergi Vila, 6-1, 6-2, while sophomore Martin Bostr?m (Stockholm, Sweden) lost to Maor Zirkin, 6-2, 6-4. at No. 2. At the No. 3 slot, senior Sisay Selassie (Naperville, Ill.) fell to Dalibor Pavic, 6-2, 6-0. Freshmen Neil Lesinski (Grayslake, Ill.) and Sean Ragee-Nelson (Decatur, Ill.) also fell at the No. 4 and 5 positions respectively. Lesinski lost 6-0, 6-2, and Ragee-Nelson fell, 6-1, 6-1.Western did claim one of the three doubles matches, as Junck and Lesinski defeated Pavic and Ivan Mendoza at the No. 2 slot, 8-5."Drake's a good team, maybe the best in the Missouri Valley Conference," head coach Michael Hunt said. "We didn't play our best, but they had a lot to do with that. They're a good team, and it's good for us to play this level of competition. We had a good night of practice afterwards and we're looking forward to playing Nebraska-Kearny in the morning. Was especially happy with Drew Forsberg and our #2 doubles team, picking up wins against a tough team on their home courts."The Western Illinois men?s team will resume action in Des Moines Sunday against Nebraska-Kearny.
