Senior Sarah Wright (Springfield, Ill./Rochester) was named Papa John's 'Scholar-Athlete of the Week' on Monday (Oct. 6) for her performance on the field and in the classroom. It is Wright's first career 'Scholar-Athlete of the Week' award. 

Wright scored the winner in Western's 2-1 overtime victory over North Dakota State on Friday (Oct. 3). The senior became the Leathernecks leader in goals scored during 2014 with her strike in overtime. The goal ended an eight-game losing streak for Western. 

The Springfield, Ill. native is now just one goal away from matching a career-high, set in 2012. 

A two-time Summit League Distinguished Scholar, Wright maintains a 3.875 GPA while majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences.
