Western Illinois women's swimming student-athlete Erica Hagen has been selected as this week's WIU Hampton Inn Scholar Athlete of the Week.
Hagen won two individual events and helped take two relays in Sunday's throttling of Valparaiso, 174-91. The sophomore from Lisle, Ill. raced to a first place touch in the 100-breast with a time of 1:07.76, nearly five seconds better than the second place finisher. Hagen then finished first in the 200-breast in 2:31.55. She also helped Western's 200-medley relay team (1:50.96) and 200-free relay squad (1:41.14) top their respective events.Â
The Lisle High School product currently holds the fourth-best time in The Summit League in the 100-breast (1:07.03), 14th in the 200-breast (2:31.55) and 21st in both the 100-fly (1:01.05) and 200-IM (2:16.62).
The Leathernecks' meet at Valparaiso on Sunday was their final tune-up before the House of Champions, which runs from Thursday, November 17 through Sunday, November 20 in Indianapolis.Â
