Brett Taylor was named the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, September 8th. Taylor helped Leatherneck Football open the 2015 season with a 33-5 win over 25th-ranked Eastern Illinois.

Taylor recorded six tackles, but his biggest play was a career-first interception that he returned 42 yards for his first collegiate touchdown. The sophomore linebacker also had a solo tackle for loss in the victory.

He carries a 3.656 cumulative GPA majoring in Recreation Park Tourism Administration.

The Leathernecks travel to Illinois this Saturday (Sept. 12) to face the Fighting Illini.
