Western Illinois women's golfer Jessica Schultz has been named WIU's 'Scholar-Athlete of the Week' for her efforts on the course and in the classroom. The honor is the first of her career.

Leading the way for the Leathernecks the 2015 Indiana State Spring Invitational was Schultz. The sophomore finished tied for eighth overall with a 154 after hitting marks of with a 78 and 76.

The second-round score of 76 marked a new career best for Schultz as last season she fired her previous career-best of 77 in The Summit League Championships. Her previous career best in a 36-hole invite was 157, which she also recorded last season in the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational hosted by Bowling Green.

She owns a 3.039 in Pre-Law Enforcement and Justice Administration.
