Western Illinois women's tennis player Arianna Demos (Ballwin, Mo./Lafayette) has been named Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete of the Week Monday (March 24)  for her performance on the court this past week, and continued success in the classroom.

This past week, Demos moved up to the No. 2 position in the singles lineup for the first time this season and immediately posted results. In her match against Valparaiso, Demos recored a straight sets victory over Kathleen Hebble (7-6 (7-4), 6-3). The freshman followed the performance with two singles and two doubles victories in a double dual against Quincy and Monmouth College. Demos picked up a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Quincy and a 6-0, 6-0 decision against Monmouth, both at the No. 2 spot. She also recorded a 6-1 doubles victory against Quincy and claimed a 6-1 decision over Monmouth with doubles partner Nicole Jones in the No. 2 doubles spot.

Demos excelled in the classroom during her first semester on campus, as she posted a 4.0 GPA while majoring in University Advising.
