Western Illinois senior track and field athlete Megan McGlone (Streamwood, Ill./Stremwood HS) was named Papa John's 'Scholar Athlete of the Week' Monday (Dec. 8) for her performance at the EIU Early Bird Invitational this past Friday, and continued success in the classroom.
In Western's indoor track and field season opener, the Streamwood, Illinois native won four of five events in the pentathlon to take first place at the meet. McGlone's 3,446 points in the event also set a new Western Illinois record, surpassing the previous top mark of 3,382 set by Bonnie Byers in 1985.
The senior's record setting performance continues her success from the 2013-14 season in which she earned All-Summit League honors for the indoor season and just missed All-League honors for the heptathlon at the Outdoor Summit League Championships.
McGlone maintains a 3.51 GPA and is a Biology-Medical Sciences Major
