Western Illinois sophomore guard Jabari Sandifer (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) was named Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week Monday (Dec. 1) for his performance on the court this past Saturday, and continued success in the classroom.
In Western Illinois' 91-56 victory over Greenville College this past weekend, the Naperville, Ill. native dished out a career-high 13 assists. The 13 helpers is the most from a Leatherneck men's basketball player since Lamont Bunton had 14 during the 1992-93 season.
On top of his 13 assists, Sandifer also tallied nine points, grabbed three rebounds, and did not turn the ball over in 29 minutes of action.
On the year, Sandifer is averaging 6.4 points, 4.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per game.
Sandifer maintains a 3.299 GPA and is a pre-business management sciences management sciences major.
