Leathernecks Welcome a 6-Foot Forward with Three-Point Presence

Western Illinois women’s basketball added height and range to its program with the addition of Kyra Washington.

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois women's basketball added height and range to its program Tuesday, June 12, with the addition of Kyra Washington. The 6-foot forward will join the Leathernecks after a one-year stint at Parkland Community College.

"We are excited to welcome Kyra to our program," said head coach JD Gravina. "She brings some added height and length but can space the floor with her three-point shooting. She is an experienced player and will fit in well with our team on and off the court!"

Ranked top five in the country during the 2016-17 season, Washington was a force from behind the arc with a 44.4 percent shooting clip. She averaged 9.8 points in 32 games for the Cobras, scoring 15-plus in six games.

Washington finished the year with three double-doubles while adding 127 rebounds, 26 blocks, and 22 steals.

Before Parkland, the Chicago native spent a year at SIUE, attended St. Charles East High School and was a member of the Illinois Lady Lightning AAU team.
