Muscatine Native Annabel Graettinger to join Western Illinois women's basketball.

MACOMB, Ill. – Head coach JD Gravina announced the addition of Annabel Graettinger to the women's basketball roster following a two-year stint at South Dakota State.

"We are very excited to bring Annabel on board. She will bring some experience to our lineup in 2018-2019 after we graduate a big senior class," said Gravina.

Graettinger is a native of Muscatine, Iowa where she was a teammate with reigning Summit League Player of the Year and Tournament MVP Emily Clemens at Muscatine High School.

At Muscatine, she was a 2014-15 Iowa Girls Coaches Association Class 5A third-team all-state selection, a Mississippi Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Iowa Newspaper Association Class 5A first team all-state and all-district pick, the Quad-City Times All-Metro Team Captain and the Muscatine Journal Player of the Year. During her time as a senior at Muscatine High School, she averaged 20.2 points, 7.1 boards, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game to help lead her team to the Class 5A regional Final.  During her senior campaign with the Muskies, she shot 77.1 percent from the charity stripe and totaled 41 3-pointers.

As a junior, Graettinger averaged 13.1 points per game, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest. She was also a First Team Mississippi Athletic Conference, All-Metro, Iowa Basketball Coaches Association All-Region and Quad-City Times All-Metro selection. As a junior, Graettinger helped lead her team to a 19-4 overall record (15-1 conference) and a Class 5A Regional Semifinal appearance. She concluded her high-school career with a total 949 points for the Muskies.

The 5-foot-10 guard was also a multi-sport athlete, setting a school record in the 200-medley relay at state as a swimmer. As a senior, she was the 2015 YMCA Female Athlete of the Year for Muscatine. Off the court, Graettinger was selected as a participant in the National Council of Youth Leadership, as well as a member of the Key Club, Spelunking Club, Silver Cord and was her class Valedictorian.

"Annabel is extremely versatile and creative on the offensive end," said Gravina. "She will be an asset to our program and we are thankful to get another kid from our region."
