Women’s Basketball Ranked 21st In Preseason Mid-Major Poll

The CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll has Western Illinois ranked in the top-25.

BOSTON, Mass. — The CollegeInsider.com Women's Basketball Mid-Major Poll that was released Tuesday (Oct. 31), has Western Illinois ranked in the top-25 at No. 21.

CollegeInsider.com is the official ranking website for mid-major basketball programs and is now in its eighth year of existence.

Following the conclusion of last season, the Leathernecks reached as high as No. 13 in the mid-major poll.

The Leathernecks are coming off a record-breaking 26-7 season to go with The Summit League Regular Season and Tournament Championships, along with an NCAA Tournament berth. The team returns four out of five starters and eight total players.

Western Illinois was voted second in The Summit League Preseason Poll, where Emily Clemens (Preseason Player of the Year/First Team), Morgan Blumer (First Team) and Taylor Higginbotham (Second Team) all garnered preseason accolades.

The Leathernecks take the court Thursday (Nov. 2) in a home exhibition against Quincy at 7 p.m. The regular season officially opens Friday (Nov. 10) inside Western Hall against Kansas City at 7 p.m.
