Basketball Doubleheader on Feb. 4 to Feature 'Think Pink' and 'Ballin' for the Kids'

Western Illinois athletics will host a basketball doubleheader on Saturday, February 4, inside Western Hall that will feature the women's team facing the Omaha Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. followed by the men's team battling the Mavs at 7 p.m. The women's game will be their annual 'Think Pink' event that is used to raise money for Linda's Fund at McDonough District Hospital, and the men will host their 'Ballin' for the Kids' event with Dance Marathon to help raise money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Free Chipotle will also be given to the first 200 students 
that come to the women's game at 4:30 p.m. To receive your free chicken or steak burrito, students can pick up a ticket by the inflatable Rocky at the beginning of the game. After the game is over, they can use that same ticket to pick up their free chicken or steak burrito, also by the inflatable Rocky. Students get in to all Western Illinois athletics events for free with your student ID.

There are several ways for fans to help raise money for Linda's Fund before and during the women's game. For $1 fans can purchase pink ribbons in which they can write the name of someone to dedicate the ribbon to on it, t-shirts can be purchased for $15, and for a $5 donations fans will receive a exclusive Think Pink poster and an autograph and photo session with the team. There will also be a bounce house on-site and kids can bounce for a cash donation. If you'd like to purchase a t-shirt in advance you can call (309) 298-1190 or email LeatherneckMarketing@gmail.com. Shirts can be picked up in Western Hall room 103 before the game.

 

The men's 'Ballin' for the Kids' event will also provide several opportunities to help raise money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Dance Marathon will kick things off earlier in the day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. when they host a dance clinic inside Brophy Hall. See the 'Kids Dance Clinic' flyer to sign up. Participants that attend the clinic will then take their skills to halftime of the men's game where they will perform a routine they learned earlier in the day. The bounce house from the women's game will remain up and kids can bounce for a cash donation. There will also be a super-fan zone where dance marathon participants will be able to have their faces painted and receive super fan items, which will be available to them for a donation. There will also be hospital bracelets sold for $1 as a cause connection. The official hashtag for the 'Ballin' for Kids' event is #W1UFTK.
