@WIUWomensHoops Announces 2014-15 Schedule

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois women's basketball head coach JD Gravina announced the program's 2014-15 schedule on Monday (July 14). The Fighting Leathernecks will play 14 games on the new LeRoy A. Ufkes Court inside Western Hall, including eight in Summit League play.

The schedule includes seven opponents that qualified for the postseason – two in the NCAAs (South Dakota, North Dakota), three in the WNIT (Marquette, IUPUI and semifinalist South Dakota State), and two in the Women's Basketball Invitational (Fort Wayne and champion Illinois-Chicago).

WIU will play host to William Jewell College in the lone exhibition game on November 6th. The regular season opens on Saturday, November 15, at Missouri. Two days later Western opens its home schedule versus William Woods.

The Leathernecks play two straight on the road - at Chicago State (Nov. 20) and Florida Atlantic (Nov. 23). On Tuesday morning, November 25, Western plays host to former Summit League rival Kansas City. The 11 a.m. tipoff is part of Elementary School Day at Western Hall.

For the first time ever, Western will face North Dakota. The Leathernecks play host to UND on Saturday, November 29, before the start of a three-game roadtrip.

Western travels to Southeast Missouri (Dec. 3), UIC (Dec. 6) and Bradley (Dec. 9), then returns home to play in-state rival Eastern Illinois on Friday, December 12, prior to Finals Week.

On Sunday, December 21, Western travels to Marquette in the first meeting between the two programs since 1989. WIU closes out the 2014 portion with home games against Eureka College (Dec. 28) and Milwaukee (Dec. 30).

Summit League play opens on the road at Fort Wayne on Friday, January 2. Western returns home two days later to play host to Omaha. The following Saturday (Jan. 10) WIU plays South Dakota inside Western Hall.

Two road games follow – at Denver (Jan. 15) and then at Oral Roberts (Jan. 17) as the Golden Eagles return to the Summit League following a two-year hiatus.

The Leathernecks play four straight at home: South Dakota State (Jan. 21), North Dakota State (Jan. 24), IUPUI (Jan. 29), and Fort Wayne (Jan. 31). Then three consecutive road games follow: at NDSU (Feb. 6), Omaha (Feb. 8) and IUPUI (Feb. 14).

The home schedule concludes with games against Oral Roberts (Feb. 19) and Denver (Feb. 21). Western closes out the regular season at SDSU (Feb. 26) and South Dakota (Feb. 28).

The Summit League Tournament returns to Sioux Falls on March 7-10. The tourney will be held inside the brand new Denny Sanford Premier Center.

"We once again put together a non-conference schedule that should help prepare us for Summit League play. We are excited to have home games against NCAA tournament qualifiers North Dakota and South Dakota, as well as WNIT teams IUPUI and South Dakota State," said Gravina. "Fans should have the opportunity to watch some great women's basketball in Western Hall."
