Steve Mikez, 1994 - Steve led the WIU football team from 1969 to 1973 and was voted co-captain and Most Valuable Player on offense in 1972. The co-captain of the 1973 NCAA playoff team, he ranks in the WIU record book for both season and career stats for a quarterback.

He was drafted by the Birmingham Americans of the WFL in 1973. He taught and coached at Hinsdale Central and York High Schools before entering into private enterprise.
