Kathy Gates-Washington, 2000 - Kathy was a three-year tennis letterwinner who played #1 singles and doubles during her entire career. Gates-Washington set numerous WIU single season records in 1986-87. She was undefeated in Gateway Conference play that season and set a school record with a combined single and double winning percentage of .910.
Gates-Washington was ranked in the top 50 nationally as a junior and helped lead the Westerwinds to the 1988 Gateway Conference title by winning the conference's singles title. She was named the Gateway's Tennis Player of the decade in 1989.
