INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The All-Summit League duo of Jasmine Brown and Alyssa Johnson will travel to Austin, Texas to compete at the NCAA Division I Track and Field West Preliminary Championships, the committee announced (May 18).

"I am very pleased for Alyssa and Jasmine. They are both tremendous competitors and great talents and are very deserving of competing at the next level," said head coach Mike Stevenson. "Postseason competition is the perfect way to cap off great seasons for both of them. They are each looking forward to the meet and have high goal that they look to achieve and any successes reflect well on our program as well as on themselves."

Jasmine Brown will compete in both the long jump and triple jump following a program record-breaking performance at The Summit League Outdoor Championships last week (May 11-13). The junior from DeKalb, Ill., who recently earned her third All-Summit League honor, finished runner-up in the women's long jump, breaking her own two-year program record with a new distance of 19'11.75" (6.09 meters). She also ranks first in The Summit League for the women's triple jump, leaping a total of 42'4" at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Invitational (April 15).

Fellow All-Summit League honoree Alyssa Johnson recently concluded The Summit League Outdoor Championships with a first-place finish in the women's 800-meter prelims (2:09.53) and a second-place result in the finals (2:09.33). She capped off her regular season and Summit League postseason ranked second in the league for the women's 800, with her best being a 2:08.43 at The Drake Relays (April 26).

The NCAA Division I Preliminary West Championships begin Thursday (May 25) through Saturday (May 27). Johnson's 800-meter run is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. on May 25, while Brown competes in the women's long jump earlier that same day at 7:15 p.m. Brown's second event, the women's triple jump, is scheduled for May 27 at 6 p.m. (CT). The top-12 qualifiers out of these regions in each event will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
