Leathernecks and Eagles meet for the first time in program history

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois Football is adding another home-and-home series with a member of the Big Sky Conference. Athletic Director Matt Tanney announced Wednesday (April 5) the Leathernecks will play a home-and-home series with Eastern Washington.

On September 12, 2020, the Leathernecks will travel to Roos Field in Cheney, Washington. The Eagles will return the game, visiting Hanson Field on September 18, 2021. The two programs have never met before.

The home-and-home series continues to build Western's strength of schedule against perennial national FCS contenders. Earlier this year, the Leathernecks announced a future home-and-home series against Montana, another member of the Big Sky Conference.

Western has faced current Big Sky members Montana State, Montana and Northern Colorado a combined five times in the regular season and playoffs, owning a 3-2 record.

EWU played recent home-and-home series against Missouri Valley Football Conference members UNI and North Dakota State.
