Leatherneck Football to Face Colorado State in 2019

Western to face the Rams for the first time in program history

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois Director of Athletics Matt Tanney announced a non-conference game for the 2019 football schedule.

The Leathernecks will travel to Colorado State on September 7, 2019. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

"It's a great opportunity for our football program to compete against a quality FBS opponent in Colorado State. They're opening a new stadium this season, which should only further enhance the experience for our student-athletes," said Tanney. "The schedule allows for 12 games in 2019, so playing a FBS opponent in Week 2 still enables us to schedule competitive, non-conference FCS opponents prior to the start of the Missouri Valley Football Conference slate."

NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision member Colorado State University, located in Fort Collins, is a member of the Mountain West Conference. The Rams are opening a brand new on-campus stadium this fall, which will seat 41,200.
