Billy Wright Announces Addition of Chris Snyder to Men's Basketball Team

The 6-foot-10 center will join the Leatherneck family the during the 2016-17 season

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois men's basketball head coach Billy Wright announced the addition of Chris Snyder (Cameron Park, Calif./Ponderosa) to the Fighting Leatherneck family Tuesday (April 26).

The 6-foot-10, 235-pound center graduated from Ponderosa High School in Shingle Spring, Calif. where he earned First Team All-Delta River League honors three times. Snyder set the school's record for field goal percentage in a game, making all 10 of his attempts from the field (100%). He averaged 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game as a senior after averaging 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists per game as a junior.

"Chris is a great addition to our basketball family. He has the ability to play both the PF and C positions, which will help our over-all low post presence," said Wright. "Chris brings mental and physical toughness, comes from a winning program, and fits our program's ALLIN philosophy."

The newest Leatherneck big man played his first season of college basketball at Regis College in Denver, Colo. where he averaged 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds while playing 10.0 minutes per game as a freshman during the 2014-15 season. He then transferred to Casper College for the 2015-16 season where he averaged 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore.

Snyder joins C.J. Duff (Waukegan, Illinois/Carmel) and Jeremiah Usiosefe (Hamilton, Ontario/The Hill Academy) in this year's signing class.
