J.C. Fuller to Pursue Professional Basketball Career

The Leatherneck guard recently signed with an agent to begin the process of signing with a professional basketball team

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois men's basketball alum J.C. Fuller is looking to further his basketball career as the guard recently signed with an agent.

"Having a chance to continue my basketball career means a lot to me, I have been working my whole life for this opportunity to hopefully be able to help provide for my family, and myself," said Fuller. "Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be able to say that I was a professional basketball player, and now that I am so close to reaching that goal and it feels unreal."

Fuller, who spent his final two college basketball seasons at WIU, averaged 28.4 minutes per game during his 45 career games. He also averaged 13.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 per game.

"Western Illinois University gave me a great opportunity to showcase my abilities, and I will be forever grateful to Coach Wright, the other coaches, and of course WIU. While being at Western, I was able to grow both on and off the court. Western really helped me become the man I am today. I learned lessons here that will last a lifetime and will take all that I've learned during my time at WIU with me. I will continue to represent Western to the fullest wherever basketball and life takes me," concluded Fuller.

The Sioux City, Iowa native helped lead the Leathernecks to their historic victory over 17th-ranked Wisconsin on Nov. 13 in Madison, scoring a team-high 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and making all four of his shots from long range. Fuller later dropped 29 points and 24 points in WIU's two games against in-state rival Eastern Illinois.

"I am happy for J.C. and the opportunity he has to pursue a professional basketball career. He has worked very hard on and off the court and is very deserving of this opportunity," said head coach Billy Wright. "During his time here, J.C. has embraced the culture of the program and is on track to graduate in May. This is just another example that you can come to Western Illinois University, earn your degree, and have an opportunity to extend your playing career at the professional level."
