Football Signing Day Social Set for February 3

Public welcome to attend Signing Day event at Sports Corner prior to the men’s basketball game

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois head football coach Charlie Fisher announced an upcoming social open to the public on Wednesday, February 3, to announce the 2016 Signing Day class. The event precedes the Leatherneck men's basketball game that night in Western Hall.

Football National Signing Day will take place on February 3, and coach Fisher will hold a 3 p.m. press conference for the media members recapping the newest group of Leathernecks. Updates on the newest recruits will be posted on GoLeathernecks.com throughout the day once the National Letters of Intent are received by the WIU Athletic Department.

The public is invited to Sports Corner @ 124 (located in downtown Macomb) for a Signing Day celebration from 4-6 p.m. Coach Fisher will discuss the 2016 class and introduce members of his coaching staff.

After the social, the men's basketball team will face Omaha with tipoff scheduled at 7 p.m. inside Western Hall.

Since taking over the program three weeks ago, Fisher and his staff have been on the road recruiting the next group of students to join Western Illinois University and carry on the tradition of Leatherneck football.

"Esprit de Corps and the Leatherneck Way has always been a common bond of team, toughness and a unified purpose. The common spirit existing within the team, which inspires enthusiasm, devotion to a cause, and the highest regard for honor and pride. That's who we are," said Fisher.
