Men's Soccer Announces 2015 Schedule

Head coach Dr. Eric Johnson looks to lead Western to its fourth title in five seasons.

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois men's soccer head coach Dr. Eric Johnson announced the 2015 schedule on Wednesday (July 14). The schedule, which is subject to change, features seven home matches during the regular season.

The Leathernecks, who earned a share of the 2014 Summit League regular season title, look to win their fourth title in five years and are in search of their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance since 2004. 

Fans will get their first look at the 2015 Fighting Leathernecks on Saturday, August 22 as WIU wraps up its exhibition schedule against Northern Illinois, five days after traveling to Chicago to face DePaul. Western opens the regular season against former Summit League rival Oakland on August 28 in Rochester, Michigan. Following another road contest at Bowling Green on August 30, Western Illinois opens its home schedule on September 4 against Valparaiso before playing four consecutive matches on the road.

On September 6, the Leathernecks face Green Bay and will then participate in the Radisson Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. There, Western takes on Detroit-Mercy (September 11) and Western Michigan (September 13). The road swing concludes on September 19 against Kansas City. 

The Purple and Gold return to John MacKenzie Alumni Field on September 21 to face Loras College before opening Summit League play on September 26 against defending league tournament champion Denver in Macomb. 

League play continues as Western travels to Oral Roberts on October 3, Omaha on October 10, and Fort Wayne on October 17. WIU plays host to non-conference foes Bradley (October 5) and Drake (October 13) during that span until Summit League foe Eastern Illinois comes to Macomb on October 17. 

The 2015 schedule sees Western traveling to Fort Wayne (October 24) and Milwaukee (October 27) with the regular season finale on November 1 as Western plays host to IUPUI. 

The top four teams in The Summit League will then travel to Denver, Colorado for the 2015 Summit League Men's Soccer Championships. The semifinals will be held on November 12 with the championship game on November 14.
