Haley Jones Hired as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

Haley Jones returns to Western Illinois, will head compliance department

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois University Interim Director of Athletics Matt Tanney announced Tuesday (Dec. 1) that Haley Jones has been hired as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. Jones will rejoin the Leatherneck staff after serving as a Graduate Assistant for Compliance from August 2012 to May 2014.

She will head all of the compliance related matters regarding student-athlete eligibility and recruiting among other responsibilities for all 20 sport programs.

"We're excited to welcome Haley back to Leatherneck Athletics. She proved herself as a capable and competent graduate assistant, and also had the opportunity to develop her skills at several other Division I institutions," said Tanney. "She will be a great addition to our team, and I know our coaches and staff look forward to her leadership of our compliance operations."

After completing her master's degree in sport management from Western in 2014, Jones worked as an assistant director of compliance at Georgia Southern University, before spending the past three months as the assistant director of compliance at Ball State University.

"I want to thank Matt Tanney for this great opportunity to come back to Western Illinois," said Jones. "There are a lot of great things happening within the athletic department, and I am very excited to be working with the administration, the coaches and the student-athletes again. Growing up in the area and earning a degree from Western, it is a great honor to be able to come back home."

Jones earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from Monmouth College in May 2012, where she also served as the assistant women's basketball coach for two seasons.
