Western Illinois Women's Golf Adds Two

The Fighting Leathernecks announced the addition of Cassidy Jurkaites and Gabrielle Isaacks

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois women's golf head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen announced the addition of two golfers to the Fighting Leatherneck family in Gabby Isaacks (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) and Cassidy Jurkaties (Mishawaka, Ind./Penn)

Isaacks, a three-time all-conference and all-academic honoree, was a member of the Rochester High School golf program throughout her entire career, beginning as a freshman in 2012. As a junior, she earned medalist honors at her conference tournament and placed second at regionals and third at sectionals.

"Gabby will be joining us after leading her team to the IHSA State Title in 2015," said Lukkarinan. "She is a proven competitor in Illinois, with an individual conference title and a 13th-place finish at state. Her work ethic and short game skills will serve her well at the NCAA D1 level, and her drive and determination will carry over into her upcoming career here at Western Illinois University."

As a senior, Isaacks helped lead her team to conference, regional, sectional and state titles, while finishing second in the region and 13th in the state individually. Individually. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

The other newest member of the women's golf program, Cassidy Jurkaties, was a two-time member of the Indiana All-State team and was named her teams' MVP both of the seasons.

"Cassidy has enjoyed a phenomenal senior year and we're excited to have her be a part of our Leatherneck women's golf program. She earned medalist honors an amazing nine times this fall including an NIC Championship. Cassidy is an excellent student and leader whose specialties on the golf course include a strong mental game and strategic course management. She will make an excellent addition to our golf program in 2016," concluded Lukkarinan.

Jurkaties also helped lead her high school team to four straight conference titles, four straight sectional titles, three straight regional titles and three straight state appearances. During her senior season she earned medalist honors in her conference tournament, sectional tournament and regional tournament. Jurkaties was named to the Honorable Mention Indiana Academic All-State team, and is also a member of the National Honor Society.
