Men's Golf Finishes Day One of D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate Sunday

Senior Nate Davis is tied for third heading into Monday's final round with a 143 (71-72)

NORMAL, Ill. - Senior Nate Davis of the Western Illinois men's golf team continued his strong fall season Sunday (Sept. 14), finishing the opening day of the 2014 D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate in a tie for 3rd with a two-round score of 143. Davis fired a 71 (0) in the opening 18 holes before carding a 72 (+1) in round two. As a team, the Fighting Leathernecks are in 15th-place.

Sophomore Andrew Blackburn is tied for 51st-place with a 152 heading into tomorrow's third and final round. Blackburn hit a 78 in round one before improving by four strokes on his second round score, recording a 74.

Two strokes behind Blackburn is junior Alex Templin who is tied for 58th-place with a 154. Templin also improved his score by four strokes from the first round to the second as he finished with a 79 before tallying a 75.

Sophomore Carter Morrison and junior Austin Von Alst are tied for 71st and tied for 74th, respectively. Morrison has a 157 (81-76) and Von Alst holds a score of 158 (81-77).

The third and final round of the Weibring Intercollegiate is slated for an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow (Sept. 15).
