CFPA release

MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois senior running back J.C. Baker (Yuma, Ariz./Yuma/Arizona Western CC) earned Honorable Mention honors by the College Football Performance Awards following last Saturday's game. It marks the first weekly award for Baker this year by the CFPA and fourth in his career.

Baker ran for a career-high 175 yards and a touchdown against top-ranked North Dakota State. The Bison entered the game as the third-best rushing defense nationally, allowing just under 300 total yards on the ground in four games.

The senior broke off three runs of 30-plus yards, including a career-long 66-yard run.

He enters this week ranked 24th nationally in rushing yards per game (105.8 ypg) and 42nd in all-purpose yards (126 ypg). Currently with 1,784 yards all-time, Baker needs 143 more to match 10th place on the WIU career 'Top 10' list.

Western (2-4 overall, 0-2 MVFC) travels to 10th-ranked Youngstown State this Saturday (Oct. 11). Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. central. The game can be seen on ESPN3.com.
