Leathernecks Look to Paint the Town Purple

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois cheerleaders are looking to Paint the Town Purple. Leatherneck fans can help support the cheer team and Rocky the mascot by purchasing a painted logo for their driveway.

For only $25, the cheerleaders and Rocky will paint a Purple Western "W" on a driveway. All proceeds will go towards the cheerleaders.

"We hope to provide an opportunity for the Macomb community to show their spirit in support of Western Illinois University and Athletics by allowing the Western Cheerleaders to paint a "W" on their driveway. The Western Illinois University Cheerleaders will be distributing flyers over Homecoming weekend to invoke interest. We plan to be in the community completing this project over the weekends of October 18th and 25th, but the project will be ongoing as we continue to have interest," said advisor Cara Cerullo. "The Western Illinois University Cheerleaders and Rocky are responsible for fundraising to provide support for gear, equipment and travel expenses. We are hopeful that this opportunity will assist in decreasing the out of pocket expenses for cheerleaders in the future.
